About Phil

Phil Wood is one of Australia's most respected chefs. He trained at Sydney's renowned Tetsuya's before refining his craft at Thomas Keller's three Michelin-starred The French Laundry in California. He went on to lead the kitchens at Rockpool est. 1989 and Pt. Leo Estate, earning multiple Good Food Guide hats and Restaurant of the Year and New Restaurant of the Year accolades along the way.

In 2021, Phil opened Ursula's Paddington, which held Two Hats throughout its five-year run and became one of Sydney's most celebrated neighbourhood restaurants. He is now the chef-owner of Cafe Cressida in Woollahra, while continuing to lend his expertise to select hospitality projects.

Known for his understated style, Phil's cooking combines classical technique with an appreciation for Australia's finest seasonal ingredients and the Asian flavours that have helped shape Australian cuisine.
